"I, together with my friends, respect and welcome personally the process of national agreement initiated by Salome Zourabichvili, and we will do our part to play a positive role and contribute to this process if there is even the slightest chance of consent," Nika Melia, leader of the United National Movement said in his speech at the rally on Rustaveli Avenue.
According to him, confrontation is not good for anyone except the regime. As Nika Melia noted, he will be personally involved in the national reconciliation process.
"It has become official policy of the regime to split the nation in two parts and confront them with each other. Only the regime and its representation are interested in polarization and confrontation between social groups. Georgian society is much more diverse than even two groups and we really want smiling people to live in Tbilisi, in Rustavi, in Kutaisi, and we are fighting for all this. It sounds trivial to want to see smiling people, but even this has become deficient. Therefore, I respect this process, in which I will be actively involved, so that the mistakes that started here 30 years ago are not repeated, and I remember how a man dressed in a white coat fired the first bullet on Rustaveli Avenue," Melia said.
