Georgian Dream considers the decision of President Zelensky to recall the Ambassador of Ukraine from Georgia as a coordinated action and states that the coordination from Georgia is carried out by the National Movement, which has many representatives in the Ukrainian government.
Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream party, made the relevant statement at the briefing held at the Georgian Dream office and named Davit Arakhamia and Zurab Adeishvili among the representatives of the United National Movement in Ukraine.
"First of all, we once again express our solidarity with our friendly Ukrainian people and reaffirm our unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
At the same time, we would like to once again respond to the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to recall the ambassador from Georgia.
This decision, along with being unjustified, is completely illogical for many reasons.
In particular, as you all know, Georgia has taken effective steps to express its political support to Ukraine through all platforms - the Council of Europe, United Nations, OSCE. Ukraine has not recalled ambassadors even from countries that did not support the suspension of Russia's membership in the Council of Europe or refused to co-sponsor the UN resolution.
If the reason for recalling the ambassador was the non-imposition of sanctions, we would like to remind you that a number of countries have refused to impose sanctions, including Moldova, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Israel and others. However, the Ukrainian authorities have not recalled ambassadors from any of these countries.
If the reason for recalling the ambassador was the fact that volunteers had not been sent to Ukraine with the participation of the Georgian government, we would like to remind you that the relevant decision was made by a number of countries, including Great Britain, Poland and others. However, this decision did not become the reason for recalling ambassadors by the Ukrainian authorities from the respective countries.
The culmination of the illogicality is the fact that the Ukrainian authorities have not yet recalled an ambassador from Belarus, even when Russia is using the territory of the country for military intervention.
The double standard is obvious, which, naturally, must have its explanation.
It is also illogical that one of the main concerns of the government leaders involved in the war may be the deterioration of relations with Georgia.
As we said yesterday, there is a clear coordinated effort to involve Georgia in a military conflict, which we will not allow. This effort is coordinated from Georgia by the National Movement, which, as everyone knows, has many representatives in the Ukrainian government, including in among those close to the President. Davit Arakhamia, a person trusted by the president, as Mikheil Saakashvili himself said yesterday, was trained by him. Former Prosecutor General Zurab Adeishvili and other Georgian criminals still hold quite high positions in the Ukrainian government. Mikheil Saakashvili himself remains the formal head of the Reform Council. Under such conditions, they can easily influence the decisions of the Ukrainian authorities.
It is unfortunate that these people are creating additional problems for Ukraine and its government, which are already in a difficult situation.
At the same time, it should be noted that the representatives of the National Movement do not speak publicly about whether Georgia should be involved in the military conflict or impose sanctions”, said Kobakhidze.
According to him, despite the decision of the Ukrainian authorities, Georgia continues to provide political and humanitarian support to the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian state.
“Our position on political support will be unwavering. Georgia will do its utmost to provide the necessary humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people. For us, Ukraine is not Mikheil Saakashvili, Zurab Adeishvili, Gia Lortkipanidze or Davit Arakhamia, but, first of all, the Ukrainian people, who deserve sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence and freedom. In order to protect these principles, Georgia, within its capabilities, will do its best”, he added.
