Irakli Gharibashvili: If not Bidzina Ivanishvili, if not our government, there would have been no chance today for EU integration, we would not have a country at all

"If not Bidzina Ivanishvili, if not our government, there would have been no chance today for EU integration, we would not have a country at all," Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili said in Parliament while addressing opposition MP Salome Samadashvili.

According to the Prime Minister, after the August war, the previous Government opened a visa-free regime for Russian citizens and sold strategic facilities to Russian state-owned companies.

"Ms. Salome Samadashvili said that Mr. Ivanishvili is the main obstacle to the country's integration with the European Union. I would like to remind everyone that if not Bidzina Ivanishvili, if not our government, there would have been no chance today for EU integration, we would not have a country at all. During Saakashvili's rule, you lost territory, you brought back the Russian army. After the war, you did not think about imposing sanctions, you opened a visa-free regime for Russian citizens and sold strategic facilities to Russian state-owned companies. What are you talking about now? You teach us today that we should impose economic sanctions on Russia. I want to ask you a question: in case we impose sanctions, will not it affect our 1 million people living in Russia and our 4 million fellow citizens in our country?" Gharibashvili said.
