Irakli Kobakhidze: When you want your daughter to get married, you do not tell anyone to marry your ugly girl - this is exactly what is written in Margvelashvili's letter – we are not an ugly girl and we will not sign it

When you want your daughter to get married, you do not tell anyone to marry your ugly girl - this is exactly what is written in Margvelashvili's letter, Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Georgian Dream, told reporters, thus responding to the letter sent by former Georgian leaders to the EU officials.

As Kobakhidze stated, the mentioned letter speaks about the falsity of the authors.

"This document says that the country is in a terrible situation, but we should still be given the status of a candidate. This shows their falsity and fake steps. When you want your daughter to get married, you do not tell anyone to marry your ugly girl - this is exactly what is written in Margvelashvili's letter. We are not an ugly girl, therefore, we cannot sign it," Irakli Kobakhidze said.

Georgian politicians, who had been holding high positions before 2016, are calling on the European Union to grant Georgia candidate status. The relevant letter was handed over by fourth President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili to EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell today.

As Giorgi Margvelashvili told InterPressNews, a total of 29 letters have been sent to the European Union - one to the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, one to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the rest to the leaders of 27 EU member states.

Asked whether the current leaders refused to sign the letter, Margvelashvili said, "everyone who have been holding positions after 2016."

"The content of the letter is as follows - we agree with the demands made by them, but due to the complexity of the situation and the challenges in the region, we ask them not to dissolve the trio - Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and to give us candidate status and leave the demands for later fulfillment.

The letter is signed by all the leaders acting before 2016, who are still alive today - the presidents, the speakers of parliament. But no politician who has held high position after 2016 has signed it," Giorgi Margvelashvili said.
