Shalva Papuashvili on President’s statement: It is a pity that such assessments are made when after the end of the spring session, both Members of Parliament and employees of the Parliament's office continue to work as usual

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, has responded to the assessment made by President Salome Zurabishvili regarding the work of the Parliament.

"I would like to respond to the assessment made by the President regarding the work of the Parliament, as if the non-opening of the extraordinary session means that the Parliament is not working.

It is a pity that such assessments are made when after the end of the spring session, both Members of Parliament and employees of the Parliament's office continue to work as usual. Committee meetings are held, working group meetings are held in connection with the 12 priorities named by the European Commission.

In the last two weeks alone, 15 meetings of committees and working groups were held, in which 5 out of 8 parliamentary political groups actively participated.

It is important not to harm people's trust in democratic institutions with misleading statements," Shalva Papuashvili wrote on the social network.

According to the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, in order for Georgia to receive the status of a candidate country for EU membership, in addition to Brussels, work should also begin in the Parliament.
