Nika Melia - By the Dream’s Standard, Protecting National Dignity is Xenophobic and Tacky, While Groveling at the Occupier’s Feet is Good Form – This Fall, It Will Be Decided Whether Spring Will Come to Georgia or to Tiflis Governorate

“By the Georgian Dream’s standard, protecting national dignity is xenophobic and tacky, while groveling at the occupier’s feet is good form. It is not just a politically hot fall, but a landmark fall that awaits us,” United National Movement Chairman Nika Melia wrote on his Facebook page.

As Melia explained, it is the Georgian authorities that are accusing the Georgian public of xenophobia.

“Apparently, the nationality of some individual provocateur does not matter, we should not fall for the provocation, otherwise this will end badly and lead us to war. Does the fact that that one [provocateur] enlisted five thousand Russians and that they trampled a Georgian bar on Google mean nothing? Apparently, we shouldn’t respond to the occupier even on the Internet, lest they invade!

From the day they came to power, they have been ruling the country in line with the principle of fearmongering with the image of the enemy and the bogeyman.

For ten years, they have been using us – the return of the “Nationals” to power – to frighten the people. Now that this narrative has been worn out, they are frightening the public with war.

By the Georgian Dream’s standard, protecting national dignity is xenophobic and tacky, while groveling at the occupier’s feet is good form.

We have very little time; with them in charge we will end up being completely occupied – rather than 20 percent – and we won’t even know the date of the occupation!

Regardless of where we might be at this moment – at the seaside or in the mountains, in the city or in the country, we must think carefully and finally understand that it is not just a politically hot fall, but a landmark fall that awaits us!

This fall, it will be decided whether spring will come to Georgia or to Tiflis Governorate,” Nika Melia stated.

For your information, Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the National Movement, its satellite parties, the media outlets owned by it, and several of the richest NGOs have launched a xenophobic and chauvinistic campaign against Russian citizens in Georgia.
