Irakli Kobakhidze: I am not allowed to express my personal position on an important topic such as whether Putin's regime is a terrorist state

The international community has not formed its own solid position on these topics, let's wait for the development of events and we will share our position accordingly - I am not allowed to express my personal position on such an important topic, Georgian Dream chairman Irakli Kobakhidze said in response to the question of whether he considers Putin's regime a terrorist regime, which was the main spirit of the CoE resolution.

At the same time, Kobakhidze explained that the voting procedure did not allow the resolution to be supported without the change made relating to Saakashvili.

“We heard a lie from the representative of the National Movement. They said as if we could vote for the resolution without supporting the amendment, which is a lie. When a resolution is finally voted on, it is voted on with its all amendments. When the resolution was finally put to the vote, it already contained a record about one of the main criminals, Mikheil Saakashvili. I don't know how long they will try to do things with lies. As for Levan Ioseliani, he decided to take such a political step, he did not press the button but later he told the PACE leadership that he supported the resolution, without the change made to it, although if you look at the results of the vote, you will see that there is no last name of Ioseliani," said Kobakhidze.

When asked whether he shares the main spirit of the resolution and whether Georgia is going to share the call of the resolution and recognize Putin's regime as a terrorist regime, Kobakhidze stated that they will wait for the positions of the international community and strategic partners.

"So far, our main strategic partners have not made such a decision. We will wait for the positions of the international community. Let's see, after that we can discuss various issues, however, the international community has not defined any position on this topic. We can't talk about spirit, here we are talking about official assessment. I am not an ordinary citizen who can speak about the spirit. I speak on behalf of the ruling party, I cannot speak about the spirit. When the state has a position, it will be reflected in the relevant document," said Kobakhidze.

To the additional question whether he considers Putin's regime a terrorist regime, Kobakhidze answered that he has no right to express his position on such an important topic.

"The international community has not formed its own firm position regarding these topics, let's wait for the development of events and we will share our position with you accordingly. It's simple. I don't have the right to state my own position on such an important topic," Kobakhidze said.
