The Legal Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia did not support Tamar Alfaidze and Revaz Egadze, the candidates nominated by the President for the post of CEC chairmanship.

In addition, the Legal Committee did not support the candidacies of Giorgi Marsagishvili, Natia Tsiptauri, Levan Isakadze and Kristine Kajaia, who were nominated for the vacant positions of CEC member.

"You know that we had a committee hearing on these issues. You know that the candidates who are represented were also in competition during the previous competition when we elected the CEC chairman and members. Therefore, when these people were in competition with each other, we chose the best and they are the chosen ones today. Among these candidates are qualified, dignified persons, with outstanding experience, therefore the fact that they do not have support does not mean and does not emphasize their lack of qualification or lack of experience. However, when these people were in competition at the time, we chose the best ones and these people justified the trust of the Parliament, and during the self-government elections, their qualifications were once again reflected in the relevant international reports," said Anri Okhanashvili, the chairman of the Legal Issues Committee.
