Giga Bokeria: In order to join NATO, you need to work in the capitals - toasts are not enough

In order to join NATO, you need to work in the capitals - toasts are not enough, said Giga Bokeria, the chairman of European Georgia, responding to the statements made after the meeting of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, and the Secretary General of NATO, Jan Stoltenberg, in Brussels.

As Giga Bokeria noted, Ivanishvili's regime has not engaged in a real lobbying campaign for Georgia's NATO membership for years.

"Meeting with the Secretary General and general toasts are not enough. In order to join NATO, first of all, you need to work in the capitals - first in Washington, then in the big capitals in Europe. Of course, in our traditional allies in Eastern Europe who support us. It is necessary to plan a strategy, at this historical moment, when NATO will expand after the defeat of Russia, the chance is very high, but Ivanishvili's regime does not do it and they talk about cooperation in general, that in general "we have this priority", but in reality it does not work. To put everything aside, this is a betrayal of the interests of our country. Now the confrontation with Washington, the US, Europe, the European Union, all these countries - is a direct reduction of our chances to get out of this quagmire and to be protected against Russian aggression, which is a constant threat to our country. This regime is doing the opposite, as if they are preserving peace, but in reality it is the opposite, it is harming our peace and security," said Bokeria.
