Ilia Darchiashvili: Our main focus should be that our country deserves to be granted the status of a member state of the European Union, Georgia has very little left to complete the implementation of the recommendations

For each of us, who are taking part in the formation and implementation of our foreign policy, our main focus should be that our country deserves to be granted the status of a member state of the European Union, - this is how the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ilia Darchiashvili, assessed the planned visit of President Salome Zurabishvili to Brussels.

According to the Minister, Georgia has very little left to complete the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission.

"The President of Georgia is going to Brussels. She will have an appropriate agenda, and the most important thing here is that for each of us, who are participating in the formation and implementation of our foreign policy, our main emphasis should be that our country, on the one hand, deserves to be granted the status of a member state of the European Union, because it is very important to us. This decision must be made, although there are activities for this, which were determined by the European Council, the European Commission, and we are actively working on it, and we have very little left to complete the implementation of the recommendations", said the Minister.

In addition, he responded to the resumption of direct flights with Georgia by Russia and explained that the Georgian authorities did not participate in any negotiations on the mentioned issue.

"The relevant statement and position that was voiced by the Government of Georgia and I can't say anything more than that," said Ilia Darchiashvili.
