The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, responded to the planned visit of the head of the Government, Irakli Gharibashvili to Berlin and the assessments made by the opposition and said that the visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Germany was planned in April of this year as a result of the consultation of the foreign ministries of the two countries.

The head of the foreign ministry calls on everyone not to mislead the population and not to harm the interests of the country.

"I want to respond to the hysteria that has been going on in the last two days on the opposition TV channels, which is related to the working visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Berlin.

The issue is as follows: the Prime Minister of Georgia is very actively involved in the development of bilateral relations with Germany, and I would like to remind our population that it was the Prime Minister of Georgia who was on an official visit to Berlin.

We remember the visit of the German Foreign Minister to Georgia and the dynamics that were created from these relations. The continuation of this dynamic is that the Prime Minister of Georgia is going to Berlin on a working visit.

I think that such an incomprehensible and harmful reaction of our opponents regarding this visit stems from the fact that Germany has become one of the main supporters of our European integration, which speaks loudly about the importance of Georgia's European integration," said Ilia Darchiashvili.

According to the Minister, the fact that Germany - one of the decision-making countries in the direction of EU expansion, is active in relation to Georgia, is the main reason for the irritation of the opposition.

"This is the reason for their irritation and the spread of such harmful misinformation. However, I want to calm them down and urge them to constructively evaluate Georgia's foreign policy. The Prime Minister of Georgia will definitely have a fruitful visit to Berlin, where they will discuss our European future, strengthening regional security, and economic cooperation, and further strengthening of bilateral relations," Darchiashvili noted.

The Minister also explained that the said visit was planned on the basis of bilateral consultations at the end of April, on April 28 after close consultations between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

"I call on everyone not to mislead our population and harm the country's interests in their evaluations of Georgia's foreign policy and our European integration," the head of the foreign ministry said, adding that Germany's strong support for Georgia's European integration is the result of the consistent policy of the Georgian government.
