Lawyer Giorgi Kondakhishvili hopes that the Gldani incident will not become the basis for the second arrest of Nika Melia and his companions. Lawyer Giorgi Kondakhishvili told journalists about this at the Tbilisi Main Division, where he met the persons arrested during the Gldani incident, members of the National Movement: Nika Melia, Bacho Dolidze and Zviad Kuprava.

As the lawyer explains, all three arrested persons deny any kind of violence against police officers. According to him, the situation simply escalated and there was an emotional background.

"Certainly, some complaints were made by them towards the law enforcement authorities. As you know, when 30-40 people armed with batons commit violence and the police do not have an immediate reaction to this, it raises the suspicion that it is organized, incited violence. And instead of arresting these persons immediately, Nika Melia and his companions were arrested very promptly.

I very much hope that this case will not become a second tool in the hands of the government and will not once again become the basis for arresting Nika Melia and his companions through criminal prosecution, although, of course, nothing can be ruled out. The footage that has been released does not show an attack on a police officer by any of them. Of course, there is an emotional background, to some extent a confrontation," Kondakhishvili said.

In addition, as the lawyer noted, Nika Melia has some injuries.

"I mentioned yesterday that he has some injuries. His clothes are completely torn, he was handcuffed quite tightly for many hours, there is swelling in both wrists, as well as various injuries, which were probably sustained during the arrest", Kondakhishvili said.
