Levan Ioseliani: We always call on everyone to refrain from using hate speech and spreading misinformation, however, I do not consider it justified to use legislative mechanisms against such actions

We always call on everyone to refrain from using hate speech and spreading misinformation, however, I do not consider it justified to use legislative mechanisms against such actions, since this may put the country in front of the second danger, which means restricting the freedom of speech and expression, - Public Defender said Levan Ioseliani said, responding to the statements made in Brussels against the fight against anti-Western disinformation.

According to him, disinformation is a problem and this problem is not only in Georgia.

"Disinformation is a problem and this problem is not only in Georgia. We always call on everyone to refrain from using hate speech, spreading such misinformation, however, I do not consider it justified to use legal mechanisms against such actions, since this may put the country in front of the second danger, which implies the restriction of freedom of speech and expression. So it is the responsibility of those political parties, organizations, politicians who spread misinformation. However, I don't think that the Parliament should oppose this at the legislative level, because we have a law that gives people the opportunity to freely express their opinion", said Levan Ioseliani.

Estonian Ambassador to Georgia - If we want EU membership, we should all play by the rules - The Georgian Government on the one hand says that they are moving closer to the EU, but their actions do not prove that
