Zurab Japaridze: It is a matter of principle that people come out and protect the free and Euro-Atlantic future of this country

It is a matter of principle that people should come out and protect the free and Euro-Atlantic future of this country, - the leader of "Girchi - more freedom" Zurab Japaridze said at the current rally in front of the parliament.

According to his assessment, the draft law "On transparency of foreign influence" is the beginning of the end of critical media and civil society in the country.

"The only thing they understand is the language of power, people are power. They consider the number of people whether they will take any step or not. It is fundamentally important for many people to come forward. The adoption of this law means the beginning of the end of practically independent and critical media and civil society. This is how it started in Russia too. And then they built something on this law. This is how they are going to do it here, they dared to take the same step for the second time in a year, it is a matter of principle for people to come out and protect the free and Euro-Atlantic future of this country. The chances that arose for us to become a full member of the European Union in 5-6 years. I believe that many people will come out, I am sure there will be many people here in the evening", said Zurab Japaridze.

For information, a rally of civil organizations and media representatives is taking place at the back entrance of the Parliament of Georgia. Those present at the rally are protesting the draft law "On the transparency of foreign influence", which is being considered by the Legal Affairs Committee in the first reading.
