Our fraternal Armenian nation remembers many proud historical events, but today's event is dedicated to the most important date in the history of Armenia - independence. Gaining independence has once again confirmed the strong spirit and fighting ability of the Armenian people, who have withstood the difficult periods of history. Also, today we remember with great respect the people who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of the country, - said the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili during his speech at the reception held at the Armenian Embassy.
According to him, relations between Georgia and Armenia have deep historical roots, which are based on centuries-old cultural ties, traditions, mutual respect and trust.
"Faced with many challenges, our peoples were able to establish a friendship that transcends time and borders and involves standing by each other's side.
Just a few months ago, the long-term fruitful cooperation between Georgia and Armenia moved to the level of strategic partnership, which is a logical continuation of the existing relations and friendship between our countries and peoples. We must continue the policy of historical friendship and brotherhood bequeathed by our great ancestors, which has withstood many difficulties and is a precursor to the spiritual and material enrichment of our peoples.
I am glad that the ties between our legislatures are strong. Visits are often exchanged at different levels. The representatives of the two countries always have many issues of mutually beneficial cooperation to discuss.
We are fully ready to continue the further development of relations between our countries. In addition, it is worth noting that for the full use of the potential of these relations, peace in the South Caucasus region is important, which Georgia has always been and will be ready to promote", said Shalva Papuashvili, noting that the promotion of stability and development in the South Caucasus is in the interest of all three countries of the region.
"I am sure that as a result of the cooperation of the three countries of the region, we will be able to implement a number of successful projects. I heartily congratulate the Armenian people on Independence Day! I wish Armenia a peaceful and successful future", said the Chairman of the Parliament.
According to the press service of the Parliament, the event was also attended by members of the majority, Giorgi Volski, Maka Bochorishvili, Nikoloz Samkharadze, Sozar Subari, Samvel Manukian and Sumbat Kiureghian.
