The Georgian Young Lawyers' Association (GYLA) has appealed to Georgia’s Public Defender, Levan Ioseliani, to ensure the establishment of a special medical team to monitor the health condition of Mzia Amaglobeli, an unlawfully imprisoned individual at the N5 Women's Special Facility.

According to GYLA, a review of medical documentation received on January 31, 2025, revealed that Mzia Amaglobeli has not been provided with all the necessary examinations and procedures required for a comprehensive assessment of her health condition.

"Despite addressing the relevant authorities on February 1 to ensure these medical examinations, it remains unclear whether any action has been taken in response to our request. Furthermore, Mzia Amaglobeli has been on a total hunger strike for 22 days, significantly increasing the risk of her health becoming critically severe.

To properly monitor Mzia Amaglobeli’s health, it is essential to form a special medical team, which should initially include an anesthesiologist-resuscitator, an endocrinologist, and a specialist in metabolic diseases. If necessary, a neurologist, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist should also be involved.

GYLA urges the Public Defender to ensure the creation of this medical team so that the necessary medical measures can be taken promptly. The Public Defender has also been provided with a list of doctors willing to participate in the monitoring process," the statement reads.
