The European Parliament resolution will not be diminished by any rhetoric from "Georgian Dream." On the contrary, it will become a very serious new impetus for the policy of personal sanctions on a national level. This is what one of the leaders of "Strong Georgia," Ana Natsvlishvili, said in response to the European Parliament's planned vote on a resolution concerning Georgia on February 13, and the information that the resolution will target the sanctioning of certain individuals.
According to her, it is important that those who financially support "Georgian Dream" are also sanctioned.
"The European Parliament resolution is a form of demonstrating the political position and halted opinion that exists on a European scale. Therefore, what is reflected in the resolution will express the sentiments of the decision-making circles of member states. The strength and influence of this document lies in the fact that it will, to some extent, serve as a guide for executive governments on the national level, especially regarding foreign policy, when it comes to candidate countries. Therefore, the weight and influence of this is very serious, and it will definitely have practical implications.
We remember when representatives of "Georgian Dream" vehemently claimed that there would be no personal sanctions, and now we may lose track of the number of "Georgian Dream" representatives who have become the subject of sanctions from various states. Therefore, no rhetoric from "Georgian Dream" can diminish the European Parliament's resolution; on the contrary, it will become a very serious new impetus for the policy of personal sanctions on the national level.
I welcome the fact that those individuals who financially support the abusive regime and the propagandists who poison society through their propaganda will be sanctioned. Their personal sanctioning will also be very important," said Natsvlishvili.
