According to Sozar Subari, Secretary of the Temporary Investigative Commission established in the Parliament, the commission should be interested in why the then governors of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and Shida Kartli, Zaza Gorozia and Lado Vardzelashvili, served as drivers for Russian generals during the August 2008 war.
Subari raised the issue at today's session of the Investigative Commission, while listening to a representative of the Prosecutor General's Office.
As Subari explained, such facts are not insignificant in determining the attitude that the then government had towards the occupier and the occupation.
"I don't know whether this can be a matter of criminal prosecution, but I can't call it anything more than treason when certain parts of Georgia's territories are occupied and the heads of those territorial units, governors - the then governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Zaza Gorozia and the then governor of Shida Kartli Lado Vardzelashvili, served the Russian occupying generals like soldiers.
When we come to the topic of the August 2008 war, such facts are not insignificant in clarifying the attitude that the then government had towards the occupier and the occupation," said Sozar Subari.
