Irakli Kobakhidze: When 5,000 people come out in response to calls from Nika Gvaramia, Zurab Japaridze, Salome Zurabishvili, and similar figures, this can even be considered a success for the opposition

“When 5,000 people come out in response to calls from Nika Gvaramia, Zurab Japaridze, Salome Zurabishvili, and such people, this can even be considered a success for this opposition,” said the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, in response to journalists’ questions about the May 26 rally organized by the “Opposition Alliance.”

According to the Prime Minister, the opposition practically has no resources and, if elections were held today, they would not even achieve the results they received two years ago.

“What we had predicted happened - their latest rally failed again. A part of people came out; this is their democratic right. When 5,000 people come out in response to calls from Nika Gvaramia, Zurab Japaridze, Salome Zurabishvili, and such people, this can even be considered a success for this opposition. However, we see that they practically have no resources. If elections were held today, they would not even get the result they got two years ago. We have very strong support from Georgian society. Their support is minimal, which was once again shown yesterday,” Kobakhidze said.

He also stated that the failure of “planned scenarios” is due to the opposition’s past.

“This information was available. Every time they bring in experts who plan specific scenarios, but every time all scenarios fail. First Akerman, then someone else, now Blazhevich - these people have no chance of success. The reason is their past, including their recent past. These individuals will never gain public trust; they are completely faceless and powerless, and therefore have zero chance of success,” he said.

Kobakhidze also noted that the “patrons” of the opposition misread the situation in Georgia, and therefore give them incorrect slogans, which is one of the main reasons for their failure.

“Their conclusion is that our government is good, while they themselves claim to be better - but how much better these people can really be, society has already made its judgment about. Their patrons misread the situation in Georgia, and therefore they also give them wrong slogans, which is one of the main reasons for their failure. They act not according to their own views, but according to external instructions, and these instructions are also determined incorrectly, because their patrons and sponsors do not feel the pulse of Georgian society,” Kobakhidze said.
