I have helped many successful figures, both here and in Ukraine. There are people from whom I could not make anything, for example, Irakli Okruashvili, Nika Melia. I always hoped that something would come of him, but in the end I failed and Melia ended up in the same swamp where Okruashvili, the Bokerias and some others are, - the third President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, writes on the social network.
As he notes, "what was supposed to happen happened."
“I have never envied anyone and I do not envy them. On the contrary, I am always very happy about people’s success. I have helped a lot of successful figures, both here and in Ukraine. Many of those are very active members of the parliament in Ukraine, some are ministers, some are ambassadors. One of my former assistants heads the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (Semen Krivonos). One is one of the main commanders of the famous Azov Corps (Colonel Giorgi Kuparashvili).
In Georgia, those I have protected have traveled all over the world, Lado Gurgenidze led the most successful reforms in Africa, Dima Shashkin is carrying out education reforms in Central Asia, Zurab Adeishvili is a prominent lawyer in Ukraine and heads the country’s Interpol. Vera Kobalia is leading reforms in Indonesia. Some appreciated such support, some did not, but I am always proud of these people. After all, my closest assistant for many years and close friend is now one of the main political leaders in France and one of the most important candidates for the presidency next year. So, now that Raphael becomes president, should I be jealous of him or should I be incredibly proud? (Even if he doesn't do anything for me at all?!)
There are people from whom I could not make anything, despite great efforts. Such was, for example, Irakli Okruashvili, whom I discovered earlier, but he followed his ambitions, immersed himself in corruption, joined forces with Patarkatsishvili and poured out his anger towards me. Unfortunately, Nika Melia found himself in a similar situation, I ignored many things many times, including completely incomprehensible attacks on me over the years. I always hoped that something would come of him, I supported him in every way and ignored the skeptics who pointed out his lack of education and the ideologue.
In the end, I failed and Melia ended up in the same swamp where Okruashvili, the Bokerias and some others are already.
I sincerely feel sorry for him for this role, but I can no longer do anything except express my regret. The only thing I wish with all my heart is that Nikanor be released as soon as possible and return to his family, to hug his son. For me, politics is not only ambition, but first and foremost humanity. I have no bad feelings towards him at all and I do not call on anyone to do so. What was meant to happen happened.
Dear Nika, I wish you freedom and a happy life,” Saakashvili wrote.
For information, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, accused Nika Melia, released a letter from prison, where he spoke about the third president, Mikheil Saakashvili. As Melia writes, "Where Saakashvili is, there is no interest of the country, there is only private selfish interest, because he is unhealthily self-absorbed, pregnant only with taking care of his ego."
In addition, as Melia notes in the letter, Saakashvili was "forced by his own irresistible jealousy" to come to Georgia before the local elections.
According to Nika Melia, Mikheil Saakashvili's endless mudslinging and occasional talk of alleged treason against him "only serves to cover up the specific history of entering into a deal with the government in exchange for his release abroad, which, for many reasons, is very troubling to him today."
