“My resignation from this position was definitely my own initiative. I can also tell you that initially neither Mr. Irakli nor Mr. Bidzina reacted by agreeing with me, but I convinced them that this was better for me,” Vice Prime Minister and Regional Development Minister Mamuka Mdinaradze said while discussing the reasons behind his decision to leave office.

According to him, he discussed his decision to resign with Irakli Kobakhidze and Bidzina Ivanishvili.

“It may be the most unbelievable thing for some people, but it was genuinely my sincere wish. At this stage, I am not telling you that I plan to return, although if the team really needs me and there is no other solution, I will return only in that case. I can guarantee you from the outset that I will not be someone who tries to sneak back into politics from the sidelines. That is not my style, and I think many of you are convinced of that.

“If I thought that there was no one else in this team besides me who could take care of the regions, I certainly would not have made this decision. Last night, I spoke at length with the Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, and this morning I also spoke with the honorary chairman of the party, Bidzina Ivanishvili. The three of us discussed that I would be better off stepping aside. I have children who are of an age where they need me, which may not sound convincing to people from the outside.
