What Irakli Gharibashvili claims is absurd, and the arguments are so weak that I cannot imagine this was born in his head. I think he wants to contribute to revolutionary processes so that after the revolution he might receive some dividend, — First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Gia Volski stated, responding to another letter from former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili.

According to him, it is clear to everyone that Irakli Gharibashvili is fighting with the method that the “collective National Movement” has.

Volski notes that it is absurd to claim that all of this is happening so that Irakli Gharibashvili somehow does not return to politics.

“As for the question of what the letter serves — it probably has two reasons. One is to protect himself and find himself under a political umbrella, and the second is to inflict as much damage as possible on the government whose leader he himself was for a period, but which today has exposed him as a criminal. That a person committed suicide has been confirmed; it is regrettable, but this cannot have any connection to this situation. This is known to everyone. Therefore, the use and raising of these topics is associated for me with very great regret, but at the same time it has no value — neither from a propagandistic point of view, and especially not in any legal context.

It is not excluded that he has been misled. Someone may be promising him that if he continues his struggle in this direction, this will help the development of a revolutionary process in the country, and then Irakli Gharibashvili will receive some dividend from this — he will gain freedom and they will forget the crime that he has actually committed. I admit the possibility that someone convinced him that this path may be strategically justified for him. A ‘smart person,’ even his own lawyer or adviser, may have given him such an idea: ‘Confront them, get involved in this revolutionary process with these statements, create a black picture of conspiracy — that someone hanged himself, crimes are happening’ — as if he himself has committed nothing. Probably someone told him, instead of explaining where, why, and by what means he acquired this wealth, go on the attack. Or perhaps this strategy was formed in his own head.

I think this is still emotionally the most difficult to bear for Bidzina Ivanishvili than for any of us,” Volski stated.

For reference: Former Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili published another letter from prison in which he mentions his former teammates — Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Mamuka Mdinaradze, who a few days ago announced his departure from politics.

Gharibashvili says that society is already convinced that the letter he published, which according to him was sent to him by his former teammate Mamuka Mdinaradze, is genuine and that the facts named in it correspond to the truth.

According to the former prime minister, Mamuka Mdinaradze “made such serious and crude mistakes in this matter that this caused not only his removal from office, but also his departure from politics.”

“However, I want to inform the public of my position: Mdinaradze’s withdrawal from politics cannot erase the heaviest and irreparable damage inflicted on the country, on people, and on ‘Georgian Dream’ with the participation of him and Irakli Kobakhidze,” the former prime minister notes.

Also, in his lengthy letter Irakli Gharibashvili asks the question, “What was the real reason for the death of human rights defender Lazare Jorbenadze?” and says that in society “to this day unanswered questions remain regarding the suicide of several people that took place during the Kobakhidze–Mdinaradze rule.”
