Irakli Gharibashvili's lawyer talks about details of questioning

Irakli Gharibashvili's lawyer talks about the details of the questioning and states that the former Prime Minister only connected the facts in his last letter to each other and asked questions in accordance with the suspicions spread in the media.

Natia Tamazashvili, the lawyer of former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, made this statement after leaving Rustavi Penitentiary No. 12, where Gharibashvili was questioned regarding his last letter.

As Tamazashvili explained, when Gharibashvili learned about the death of Lazare Jorbenadze and linked specific facts, he publicly voiced all this and asked questions publicly.

Irakli Gharibashvili stated and confirmed the facts that were known to him before and today, during the questioning, he confirmed the same facts.

What was described and indicated in the statement, why Irakli had this question [regarding Lazare Jorbenadze’s suicide], which he made public, he also formulated very well in the statement.

He did not talk about the source. Irakli said that when he received a letter in July, where Dito Chubinidze was mentioned as the first item, he was curious why Dito Chubinidze was still there, when there were other people who spoke positively about him. When he connected and recalled the facts after this letter, that an article was sent to him on February 12 and there were questions about whether he was behind this article. He connected this information and, accordingly, a few days ago, as he himself noted, during a conversation he heard about the article "The respondent's death, and therefore, he also made other details public and also asked a question publicly.

Previously, doubts were spread in a number of media outlets regarding his [Lazare Jorbenadze's] death, therefore, Irakli also asked this question," the lawyer said.

When asked whether the investigation should question Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and former head of the State Security Service Mamuka Mdinaradze, Tamazashvili stated that this is the prerogative of the investigation and he cannot go into these details himself.

For information, former Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, published another letter from prison, in which he asks the question, "What was the real reason for the death of human rights defender Lazare Jorbenadze?" and says that "To this day, unanswered questions remain in society regarding the fact of suicide of a number of people that took place during the Kobakhidze-Mdinaradze administration."
