Everyone knows full well that if someone wants to build a relationship or is looking for a partner, Georgians are the most reliable and conscientious partners; however, if someone doesn't want that or needs time, that is their choice. They know that as soon as the US shows readiness, they will find a conscientious partner here, - Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili told journalists.

He also spoke about the visit of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to the US in the context of the UN General Assembly. According to Papuashvili, a meeting between Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and U.S. President Donald Trump is not planned within the framework of the UN Assembly, as the visit is to an international organization, and its primary purpose is to deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly and hold meetings with UN institutions.

"As for bilateral relations, we have stated repeatedly that we are ready to turn a new page—to restart the relationship that the Biden administration dismantled, alienating the U.S.'s best partner in the region and halting the strategic partnership with its most strategic ally. The Biden administration unilaterally destroyed these ties, yet we have consistently said we are prepared to begin our partnership anew. We also view the dynamics between our institutions—specifically the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the Secretary of State—with great optimism. The arrival of the new U.S. Chargé d'Affaires—who previously served as an Assistant Secretary of State—at the embassy here represents a very important dynamic for us. Whenever the U.S. administration is ready for the next stage, we will be ready too. We are in no rush; we stand firm in our positions. We have acted in good faith in this relationship and friendship, whereas the previous U.S. administration did not. That is why we are waiting.

Regarding the mistakes Biden made—I don't think it was us who convinced people of that; Trump did...He is convincing the entire world of the many mistakes Biden has made across the board, including in relations with allies. The fact that Trump, for instance, cut off USAID funding and shut down the agency—as well as halting other harmful projects—and that Georgia was one of the countries where vast sums were spent to control local politics and the economy... the fact that Trump cancelled this harmful funding demonstrates, I believe, that our concerns were heard," Papuashvili stated.
