We can see that Georgia is not a priority for the current White House administration; consequently, no steps are being planned to either increase or lift pressure on Georgian Dream. Everything remains in a state of limbo, which comes at a very high cost to our country. This statement was made by Salome Samadashvili, a leader of the Strong Georgia – Lelo coalition, in PalitraNews program, where she discussed both Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's participation in the UN General Assembly session in New York and the prospects for relations with the United States.

As Samadashvili noted, the Ivanishvili government is interested in nothing other than stunts linked to Donald Trump's name. “Ivanishvili wants to sell the Georgian people on a Trump-branded project—a construction venture that involves no American capital and, as we understand it, does not even allow Georgians to purchase private property within it. It appears there may be significant potential for money laundering in the construction of Trump Tower Tbilisi. The government is interested in nothing beyond stunts and window dressing; they want the US to lift sanctions against Ivanishvili, yet they want this to happen without fulfilling any of the American side's expectations regarding the rectification of the situation in the country.

As for returning Georgia to the path of Western development, we can see that Georgia is not a priority for the current administration; consequently, no steps are being planned either to increase or to lift pressure. Everything remains in a state of limbo, which comes at a very high cost to our country,” stated Samadashvili.

Regarding the so-called elections held in so-called South Ossetia, the politician assessed that “Russia is now speaking quite openly about the need for Georgia to acknowledge the new reality and accept the independent status of the occupied territories.” We are witnessing the process of the annexation of our territories—a process that accelerated when, for the first time, a Russian official of Ossetian descent assumed the position of de facto leader.

Today, the public clearly sees that we are facing a massive challenge. The government—which deceives the public with talk of peace and keeps society in a state of complacency regarding the true nature of the threats—is, in reality, facilitating the annexation of our territories through its policies. This annexation is already openly underway—having accelerated when a Russian official of Ossetian origin first took the de facto leadership role—and the policy of annexation continues to advance. Under the current government, which offers no counter-strategy to the occupation regime and has left our country completely isolated, we are simply waiting for the moment Russia decides it needs to formally incorporate our occupied territories. Georgian Dream is powerless to act because it effectively serves as a Russian proxy; they will never oppose Russia’s interests in any way," stated Samadashvili.

She also responded to a statement by Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, who said that "EU membership holds no value for Georgia without Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region." In Samadashvili's assessment, "the statement made by Papuashvili is propaganda scripted in the Kremlin."

“Georgia has a certain faction claiming to be a political force that attacks the West and the European Union on a daily basis. Their spokesperson, Shalva Papuashvili, heaps vitriol upon the EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas—whose position is that any agreement reached with Russia must address the issue of Georgia’s occupied territories; in other words, within the context of ending the Russia-Ukraine war, we must not forget that there are other countries under Russian occupation as well. Several interesting trends have emerged recently: one is Russia speaking quite openly about the need for Georgia to acknowledge the new reality and accept the independent status of the occupied territories. This is linked to specific demands, such as committing to the non-use of force. Russia is very clearly pursuing a line suggesting that their expectation is for the status [of these regimes] to be recognized —independent of the Bidzina Ivanishvili regime. Through Papuashvili, Georgian Dream has stated that EU accession will not happen at the cost of compromising the principle of territorial integrity; this is Kremlin-authored propaganda, voiced to create the impression among the public that joining the EU entails violating the principle of our territorial integrity—when in reality, the exact opposite is true. It is a tactic used by Russian propaganda and its Georgian mouthpieces to foist this propaganda upon the public," stated Salome Samadashvili.
