Foreign Minister: I asked the EU representative to raise the issue of borderization in their bilateral dialogue with Russia and the occupation regimes

Georgia is using all the tools at its disposal to consolidate the international community, - Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani said when commenting on the recent developments along the occupation line.

According to Zalkaliani, the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and the recent developments along the occupation line were discussed at the meeting with EU Special Representative Toivo Klaar.

According to him, the unacceptability of illegal processes and the need for proper response by the international community was clearly noted at the meeting.

“We had a very detailed conversation about the situation on the occupied territory. I have clearly stated Georgia's position with regard to the illegal occupation processes related to the so-called borderization. I asked the EU representative, who is one of the key actors in the Geneva process, to raise this issue in their bilateral dialogue with the Russian Federation, as well as with the occupation regimes,” Zalkaliani said after the meeting.

According to the Foreign Minister, the occupation regime's use of humanitarian issues to achieve its own, illegal political goals is unacceptable and it is necessary to stop the process. He said the foreign ministry is using all available mechanisms for this, including international formats.

According to the Minister, the issue will be discussed during his visits to Strasbourg and Vienna, where he will hold meetings in the format of the Council of Europe and within the OSCE.
