Shalva Papuashvili: I call on MEPs not to be the instigators of polarization - instead of promoting the radical agenda of the opposition, they should look into the recommendation regarding depolarization

Everyone who says that Bidzina Ivanishvili is an oligarch insults Georgian democracy. This is precisely the promotion of the radical agenda, this is how the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, responded to the statement of MEP Rasa Juknevičienė who said that de-oligarchization means "de-Bidzinization" or "de-Ivanishvilization" of Georgia.

According to Papuashvili, Georgian Dream has already taken a step to soften the rhetoric.

"Once again, I call on the members of the European Parliament, instead of supporting the radical opposition in implementing its radical agenda, to look into the first point of the recommendations, which is about depolarization, and not to be the instigators of polarization themselves, such statements incite polarization and contradict them, the spirit of the European Union. The only thing I can say is that this particular deputy is against the spirit of the European Union, she causes polarization in Georgia and among other things, she insults Georgian democracy in this regard.

We all see that polarization in the political elite is a problem. The point is, Georgian Dream took a step in order to soften the rhetoric, it is a pity that the radical opposition does not follow us in this and still remains in polarized rhetoric, it is a pity that some members of the European Parliament (share) the same rhetoric," Papuashvili said.
