Shalva Papuashvili on leaving PES: This was the result of the attitude that Socialists had towards Georgian Dream and Georgia as a whole

First of all, it was the result of the attitude of the Socialists towards Georgian Dream and Georgia as a whole, this is how the Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili assessed the decision of Georgian Dream to leave the Party of European Socialists.

As Shalva Papuashvili pointed out, the Prime Minister's participation in the conference, which was mainly devoted to European values, traditions and family, was followed by incomprehensible evaluations from their side.

According to him, Europe stands on traditional values and it is incomprehensible when talking about such topics is considered inappropriate for their values, therefore, it would be impossible to make another decision.

"It is unacceptable for our society when such values are called into question. Therefore, it would probably be impossible to make another decision. Unfortunately, in the process of European integration, we saw that despite the party affiliation, we did not feel the support that a family party should show in this case. Various resolutions were adopted by the European Parliament, which some of the Socialists sometimes even supported. They have not even voiced criticism, which is absolutely unacceptable, because it was confirmed that there were disinformation records, where it was said that Saakashvili should be released and Kezerashvili is mentioned as a media magnate while he accumulated his fortune by fraudulently taking money from European pensioners. When they support such resolutions and do not raise any objections, this also shows that, unfortunately, they did not have the right approach. We will continue to cooperate in political relations on equal footing. In this regard, it will help to clearly present our positions in the European Parliament," said Shalva Papuashvili.
