Speaker of Knesset of Israel starts official visit to Georgia

Speaker of the Knesset (Parliament) of the State of Israel Amir Ohana is paying an official visit to Georgia, the press service of the Parliament reports.

According to their information, Givi Mikanadze, the chairman of the Education and Science Committee of the Georgian Parliament and the head of the Georgia-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group, met him at the Tbilisi International Airport.

"On September 4, Speaker of the Knesset will hold meetings with representatives of the legislative and executive authorities of Georgia. Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili will host Amir Ohana in the legislative body. After the meeting, the speakers of the parliaments of the two countries will make joint statements for the press. Amir Ohana will meet Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili and Chairman of the Supreme Court Nino Kadagidze. On September 5, at the plenary session of the Parliament of Georgia, Georgian lawmakers will welcome the Speaker of the Knesset of the State of Israel and his accompanying delegation.

Within the framework of the visit, Amir Ohana will lay a wreath at the memorials of the heroes who died in the fight for the territorial integrity of Georgia, will visit the Davit Baazov Museum of the History of Georgian Jews and Georgian-Jewish Relations, and will attend the ceremony held in honor of the Georgian saint, Sergo Metreveli and his family members," the press service of the Parliament reports.
