As for the impeachment, according to the Prime Minister, this is a formal procedure that was the government's obligation.
"As for Mrs. President's uncoordinated trip to Europe - I think this is a sad fact. If you remember last year and even before, there are no cases when we refused such type of visits, on the contrary, we always supported and never restricted her movement, but let us remind you that Mrs. President has made very grave statements. She has publicly said that our government does not fulfill 12 recommendations; It has been said that we do not deserve the status. She has made a statement as if the foreign policy of our country is unclear, at a time when everything is clear and obvious. Naturally, the minimal trust that existed between us was lost. With my signature, I could not continue sabotage against the country, I could not become an accomplice. If a person declares such an unacceptable thing inside the country and then asks us to go to Europe, and the person does not know what to say, we no longer trust them. We don't know what she would say when should would arrive in any country with our mandate, with our permission, it is unclear to us. This justified our refusal, as it directly contradicts the national interests of our country. Our interest was and is that the country gets the status. Any statement, action against this is sabotage and is against the national interests of our country.
Even a small child will understand that it is an obligation to respond to any violation of the law or to the violation of something, especially the violation of the Constitution. We were obliged and forced to make a formal response. A person demonstratively violated the constitution.

Regarding the extent to which the impeachment procedure is related to the EU candidate status, the Prime Minister says that this connection does not exist.
"It is not clear why the possible violation of the constitution and the law by this person should be related to the status. I told the European leaders that it has nothing to do with it. This is a formality, but we were obliged to react. Mrs. Salome, the country she represents - France (represented - it would be more correct to say this today), she could not convince them either. The only one who asked a question about our country in terms of geography was the President of France. Before that, we sent Mrs. Salome there, and after that very skeptical statements were made. A person could not convince her second or first homeland (however she wants to sort it) that geography is absolutely out of place. We are a natural member of the European family, and in such a difficult geopolitical situation, referring to geography is absolutely unjustified. Salome Zurabishvili failed to convince him," said the Prime Minister.
According to him, neither the President nor the opposition has done anything on the path to the country's European integration.
