Irakli Kobakhidze: We have a solid basis for optimism regarding the candidate status, we will most likely be granted status in December

We have a solid basis for optimism regarding the candidate status, compared to our hopes months ago. We very high hopes that this issue will be resolved positively and the country will receive the status, Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream party, told journalists.

According to him, the chances have been "qualitatively improved" and this is also reflected in the opposition's rhetoric.

"They talk about the secondary importance of the status, while earlier they used to say that it was a historic decision, and now they say the opposite, that it means nothing. This rhetoric also indicates that the decision regarding the status is ripening.

During all this time, they were trying to convince the decision-makers not to grant us status. Khatuna Samnidze exposed her colleagues of this. Others also started talking about it, what we have been asserting for the whole year and a half. Now the part of the opposition is also talking about direct campaign against the status. Despite this, we will most likely be granted status in December. We did everything for it and we hope the final decision will be positive," said Kobakhidze.
