We make decisions not based on visuals, but in accordance with the recommendations of doctors. As soon as it happens, Mikheil Saakashvili will return to the penitentiary. He is a convicted prisoner, including in Vivamed clinic, Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze said.
As Bregadze explained, Saakashvili will not be different from other convicts and after the relevant recommendation of the doctors, he will return to the penitentiary.
"Why don't we transfer the convicted Saakashvili to the penitentiary, this issue has been asked many times, our answer is one - when there is a relevant recommendation from the doctors, the convicted Saakashvili will return to the penitentiary, because in Georgia they serve their sentences in the penitentiary, I mean convicted prisoners, therefore, he is not an exception. When there is a relevant recommendation from the doctors, he will return to the penitentiary. We do not make decisions according to visuals, but in accordance with the recommendations of doctors. As soon as it happens, he will return to the penitentiary, he is a convicted prisoner, including the clinic Vivamed," said Bregadze.
As for the visit of Saakashvili by the representatives of the Ombudsman and the conclusion that certain positive dynamics of health can be observed, Bregadze states that he cannot talk about this, because the information about the state of health is personal.
"You have information, if I comment on his health condition, it might lead to various manipulations, as if I am talking about personal information. Therefore, if it is published by the Consilium in agreement with the convict, naturally, the public can get information from it. I told you one thing and I am in this position that we will return the convict to the penitentiary after we have the recommendation of the doctors", said Bregadze.
As for the question whether Mikheil Saakashvili might be pardoned by the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, Bregadze answered that "he does not know what the President will do".
"It will not be easy for me to talk about what the President will do. I remember the words of Mrs. President regarding the pardon of the convicted Saakashvili - "No and never". As for Saakashvili's political plans, I have said it before and I will repeat it now, he is not a citizen of Georgia, he does not have the right to be a member of a political party, he cannot be the chairman of a political union, therefore, the statement of the National Movement where they say that their political leader is Mikheil Saakashvili, proves only one fact that the National Movement is a classic example of informal governance. Merabishvili, Kezerashvili and all others who we actually see in the form of National Movement are involved here, they are just proxies of these people," said Bregadze.
