I do not expect that Salome Zurabishvili will pardon Mikheil Saakashvili, but this is not an indicator for me of whether or not Salome Zurabishvili is playing someone's game, - one of the leaders of the Republican Party Khatuna Samnidze said on PalitraNews.
According to her, she does not agree with the conspiracy theories, as if Salome Zurabishvili is playing the game of ex-premier Bidzina Ivanishvili.
"Perhaps, the President realized that the issue of impeachment was initiated not by Irakli Kobakhidze, but was an instruction from Bidzina Ivanishvili. She has even said that no one in Georgian Dream acts independently. Those who doubted it saw that she is on the side of the majority in this country who are waiting for EU candidate status. She is not afraid of threats from Georgian Dream. We hear threats and insults, but the President says, I am not afraid of anything, I have chosen my path and will fight to the end for the European future of this country. At this stage, based on the position of the President and her statements, she will not pardon Mikheil Saakashvili yet," said Samnidze.
According to her, the government is also using the issue of the electoral threshold because "this is their fear".
"That's why they don't decrease the barrier. By not lowering the threshold, there is more motivation for small parties to create several election centers. This does not mean that everyone will unite with the National Movement, on the contrary, many parties have already announced that they will not create an electoral technical block with the National Movement. I expect that the 5% threshold will be a factor for the unification of several parties.
