Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili echoes the statement of US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller that FARA applies to people who act on behalf of foreign governments and not to those who carry out the activities of legitimate non-governmental organizations.

As Shalva Papuashvili points out, Giuli Alasania and Davit Kezerashvili's TV Formula have been included in FARA, who have not been "persons acting on behalf of the government" of Georgia for 12 years.

According to him, it is this kind of superficiality and untruthful information that encourages radical groups in Georgia.

"Giuli Alasania and Davit Kezerashvili's TV channel Formula have been inlcuded into the FARA register. Probably, it is not disputed that neither one nor the other, thanks to God, have been "persons acting on behalf of the government" of Georgia for 12 years now.

It is this kind of superficiality and untruthful information that encourages radical groups in Georgia.

Let's remember that the Georgian transparency law cannot even come close to the American one in terms of the strictness of the regulations - it does not apply to natural persons, it does not consider criminal liability, etc.," Shalva Papuashvili said.
