During a state of war, the composition of the Defense Forces will include the National Military Conscription and Recruitment Agency.
This is outlined in the proposed amendments to the "Defense Code", which have already been submitted to Parliament for consideration.
The National Military Conscription and Recruitment Agency was established following the enactment of the new "Defense Code." Its main functions are to conscript citizens for national military service and to register the reserve forces of the Defense Forces.
"The agency has a municipal-level structure, including various offices, and possesses important infrastructure, which will be essential in the event of a state of war.
Therefore, during peacetime, it is necessary for the agency and the Defense Forces to jointly plan and conduct drills, training, and educational programs, as well as to prepare operational plans, standard operating procedures, and the relevant legal acts," the Ministry of Defense explains.
A legislative package has been submitted to Parliament that proposes amendments to the following laws: The Defense Code; The Law on Non-Military, Alternative Labor Service; The Law on Public Service; The Law on the Rules for Departure from and Entry into Georgia for Georgian Citizens; The Administrative Offenses Code.
The legislative package was prepared by the Ministry of Defense.
