Tamar Gabunia: Asymptomatic patients will return to their normal rhythm of life on the 13th day without being tested

Asymptomatic patients infected with coronavirus will return to their normal rhythm of life on the 13th day without being tested, - Deputy Minister of Health, Tamar Gabunia said on PalitraNews.

As Gabunia noted, the decision on whether or not to perform a test is made by the patient's doctor.

"Lately we have seen many cases with no symptoms. It is very important that a person be able to return to normal rhythm of life when there is no need for hospitalization and isolation. As for the 8th day, some recent scientific evidence show that after 8 days, a person is no longer as contagious as he or she was at the beginning of the disease and thus the infection is very minimal. Therefore, symptomatic patients need 10 days to recover and then there is a further asymptomatic period of three days. As for asymptomatic patients, according to our new protocol, after 12 days, these patients can return to normal rhythm of life without testing”, Gabunia said.
