Terrorism is one of the challenges not only for our country, but also for the whole world, - Grigol Liluashvili, head of the State Security Service, said in a speech at parliament.
"The counterterrorism unit of our service is one of the exemplary and for two years in a row our country and our service have positive evaluation of the annual report of the United States.
This is gratifying for both our service and each of our fellow citizens, as it indicates that the process of controlling and prosecuting persons linked to terrorism is being carried out at a high level, as well as controlling the financial flows needed to support them", - stated Liluashvili.
According to Liluashvili, the report of the international assessment team that visited Georgia in 2020 significantly increased the chances of joining the EU and North Atlantic Alliance.
The head of the State Security Service also spoke about the significant arrest in 2020, which was carried out with the help of the Security Service and international partners, including Ukraine. According to him, that is the extradition of Tsezar Tokhosashvili to Georgia, who is currently serving a 10-year sentence in a Georgian prison on terrorism-related charges.
