Davit Usupashvili: The EU is trying to rescue Georgia, this is our chance, Europe is helping us to get out of the abyss and we have to grab this chance

According to Davit Usupashvili, one of the leaders of Lelo for Georgia, Nika Melia wants to meet with members of Lelo and other opposition parties.

As Usupashvili explained on PalitraNews, all the authorities have always lost to the politically persecuted people.

"We have to agree that by detaining Melia in a wrong manner, by detaining too many other people before that in a wrong manner, this government has committed the kind of action that the European Union, through its High Representative, has in fact assessed Georgia as a criminal state. Today, those who are satisfied with the fact that Melia, a politically persecuted person, is free, should also remember that we also had politically persecuted Irakli Batiashvili in prison. The EU did not intervene then, but the case was resolved otherwise. From all this we must conclude that all governments always lose to politically persecuted people. Let us not have the illusion that because of the Michel agreement, the Dream and the opposition will describe events with similar terms. In fact, the EU is trying to rescue Georgia. This is a chance, Europe is helping us to get out of the abyss and we have to grab this chance. This depends on everyone who have any responsibility in the political process”, said Usupashvili.
