It is sad when the former presidents have such an attitude - one former president Mikheil Saakashvili organized a fake campaign against Georgia, other former president Giorgi Margvelashvili carried out this fake disinformation campaign against Georgia and unfortunately, incumbent president Salome Zurabishvili says nothing about it at all, - said Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili.

According to him, the FARA law has revealed another scandal, that there is not only a connection between the movement and Giorgi Margvelashvili, but also that there are plans for Giorgi Margvelashvili to become a direct ally of the National Movement.

"I think the whole society has seen the benefits of the “Russian law”, which operates in America. The "Russian law" gave us the opportunity to understand, in general, what kind of organized and orchestrated campaign was being conducted against Georgia. If not the "Russian law" that is in effect in America, of course, we wouldn't know this, because the European Union has not yet adopted such a "Russian law", we don't have a "Russian law" in Georgia either, otherwise, if we had it, we would have known not only how much money was spent on the distribution of this so-called petition, we would have also found out who took money to develop and sign this petition. Unfortunately, unlike America, we don't have the “Russian law”. If we had, we would have more information.

Precisely because the "Russian law" exists in America, we discovered that it turns out that the resolutions adopted by the European Union Parliament were not drafted by our “friendly” MEPs but by lobbyists in America. The situation is the same with the petition. There is a big suspicion that the text of the petition was not written by Giorgi Margvelashvili, most probably it was the text written by lobbyists, who also searched for the signatories and, in the end, they used him as a figure who would sign the petition. They used him for this. It is interesting if Giorgi Margvelashvili himself confirms whether he had direct or indirect contact and communication with lobbyists, and secondly, whether he wrote the petition that is called his petition”, said Papuashvili.

In addition, as the Speaker of the Parliament stated, the Ambassador of the United States of America should clarify on whose instructions the representative of the American Embassy was involved in the process.

“I hope that the American ambassador, who said that she was not familiar with these documents, has already read them and will explain why, how, on whose orders the employee of the US embassy was involved in the campaign, which is proven to be based on forgery - the Strasbourg court confirmed this," Papuashvili said.
