Any force that reflects people's interest in Georgian politics will be a continuation of the spirit of the Rose Revolution, Khatia Dekanoidze, a member of EuroOptimists, said on PalitraNews.
She evaluated the 20th anniversary of the Rose Revolution and noted that along with progress, big mistakes were made.
"The progress was very big in all directions, but in my opinion, very big mistakes were also made, which concerned, first of all, the court, the justice system. Whatever attitude you have towards Mikheil Saakashvili, he is the president of Georgia and his presence in the penitentiary is really hard in the context that Georgia does not have an independent justice system. A country that is in the process of finally realizing the value of the Rose Revolution has a hard time when the president is in prison. I am very sorry for this, but in order for the third president to be released, there is one main task to be performed, it is a lie that someone will rush in and rescue him. You remember such promises were made during the internal party elections. Mikheil Saakashvili will be released after the defeat of Bidzina Ivanishvili. This is really something that everyone should do together," said Dekanoidze.
She also spoke about the possibility of the President pardoning Mikheil Saakashvili and said that whether Salome Zurabishvili pardons Mikheil Saakashvili or not is her prerogative, but it would be a "bold decision".
In addition, Khatia Dekanoidze evaluated the manifesto published by the National Movement and the statements of party members regarding its signing.
According to Dekanoidze, if someone is expelled from the party for not signing the manifesto, it will be very serious.
"I think if people are expelled from the party because of this, it can be very difficult because when you expel people from the opposition party, it is a difficult decision. I don't think many people will sign this manifesto. I think that with or without the manifesto, there are problems in this party, which have not disappeared", said Dekanoidze.
In addition, she evaluated the adoption of a resolution by the European Parliament regarding the killing of Georgian citizen Tamaz Ginturi by the Russian occupation forces. According to Khatia Dekanoidze, this once again emphasizes the dire situation in Georgia caused by occupation and so-called borderization.
As Khatia Dekanoidze pointed out, it is important that in this resolution Russia is once again mentioned as an occupier and aggressor.
She also stated that it is a sad reality that the Georgian government refrains from adopting a resolution on the mentioned issue.
"It is a very sad reality for our country when the European Parliament overtakes the Parliament of our country in adopting a resolution. This issue has not been raised in any committee and I am sure it will not be discussed in the next session week either. This is done by the agent of Russian influence - the collective government of Georgia by the order of Bidzina Ivanishvili, to strengthen Russian influence. They are trying to maintain power by strengthening Russian influence in Georgia. Bidzina Ivanishvili is a person whom I have been personally considering a threat after 2012, I have said this many times," said Dekanoidze.
