Irakli Kobakhidze on anti-LGBT draft law: The draft law must be prepared in accordance with the principles of the second chapter of the Constitution - if the involvement of the government is necessary in the mentioned process, it may participate

The draft law must be prepared in accordance with the principles of the second chapter of the Constitution of Georgia (the chapter on basic human rights), this is the main determining principle for me, - the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze said about this in connection with the initiative of the ruling force -legislative initiative that will "protect the society from pseudo-liberal ideology and its inevitable harmful consequences".

According to Kobakhidze, if the involvement of the government is necessary in the mentioned process, it may participate in this direction.

As Kobakhidze mentioned, the concern of the parliamentary majority regarding this topic is absolutely understandable.

"I understand the concerns of the parliamentary majority, there are serious trends in different states, which are directly reflected in the statistics. It is absolutely understandable that the parliamentary majority wants to protect society from the possible development of such processes in Georgia. Let's see the rest, the draft law should be prepared in accordance with the principles of the second chapter of the Constitution of Georgia, this is the main defining principle for me. If the government's involvement is necessary, I don't know in what form or how, but we may also take part in such a thing. I will repeat once again, most importantly, the principles of the constitution must be respected when such a draft law is prepared, and I am sure that it will be prepared with such principles," said Kobakhidze.

For information, Georgian Dream has decided to prepare a legislative initiative that will "protect the society from pseudo-liberal ideology and its inevitable harmful consequences".
