The European Parliament approved an amendment to the text of the resolution on Georgia, which calls on the President of Georgia to use her constitutional right and pardon Mikheil Saakashvili.
“[The European Parliament] strongly reiterates its urgent demand for the immediate release of former President Mikheil Saakashvili on humanitarian grounds; Emphasizes that the Government of Georgia bears full and indisputable responsibility for the life, health, safety and well-being of former President Mikheil Saakashvili, and will be fully responsible for any damage caused to him; Once again, it calls on President Salome Zurabishvili to use her constitutional right and pardon him," the resolution reads.
