Gia Volski: Inappropriate amendments have been proposed to be made to the European Parliament resolution: you can't call a budget thief a media manager and a philanthropist an oligarch

A number of inappropriate amendments have been proposed to be made to the resolution of the European Parliament: you can't call a budget thief a media manager and a philanthropist an oligarch. This is so obvious to the public that it poses a major threat to our foreign policy, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Gia Volski responded to the reports that the European Parliament is preparing another strict resolution about Georgia.

According to him, a group of people is offering an inappropriate wording to the European Parliament and this discredits Europe in the eyes of the public. Volski states that the public must be reminded often that "Kubilius and Jukneviciene are not the European Parliament," otherwise, Volski says that the European course will be questioned by the public.

"The person or even a group of people, who propose such an inappropriate wording to the European Parliament, do not think about the main circumstances that have been created in Georgia. The first is that the reality is different and you can't call a budget thief a media manager on the one hand, and a person who is a philanthropist an oligarch on the other.

This is so obvious to society that it poses a major threat to our foreign policy, European integration process. It casts doubt on European integration, discredits the content, essence, democracy of Europe itself. I think we should remind the public that Kubilius and Jukneviciene are not the European Parliament and a European standard. We need to state this often, otherwise our foreign policy will be questioned by the public," said Volski.

He also responded to the appeal of 13 MEPs to Salome Zurabishvili to pardon Nika Gvaramia, the general director of Mtavari TV, and noted that their interests conflict with the interests of Georgia.

"They are members of a specific People's Party, which is the mother party of the National Movement and has its political position, which they have been holding for years and which often contradicts the interests that Georgia has, including in this case," said Volski.
