PM: LGBT propaganda in kindergartens and schools is unacceptable, you know what is happening in Europe and, unfortunately, in America as well, it is a disaster - in our country this should be a taboo topic - it can also be regulated at the legislative level

LGBT propaganda in kindergartens and schools is unacceptable for me - it should be a taboo topic in our country, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili said during his speech at the plenary session of the Parliament.

He called the campaign, which, according to him, was carried out by "McDonalds" in this direction, immoral.

The Prime Minister believes that the debate on this topic should be opened and possibly regulated at the legislative level.

"This is a very sensitive topic, there have been many debates about it in many countries, and the debates are still ongoing. I openly said a few days ago, and I will repeat it from this forum, I do not hesitate, I do not consider it embarrassing to talk about this topic. On the contrary, I think we should open the debate in our country. The time has come, the time has come to open a debate on this topic, to clearly state our position once and for all - to say clearly what we stand for, what is acceptable, what is unacceptable. LGBT propaganda in kindergartens and schools is unacceptable for me, I tell you openly. It's unacceptable, it can't be! You know what is happening in Europe and, unfortunately, in America as well, there is public information about it, this propaganda has already entered the kindergartens, it is unacceptable, it is a disaster! Propaganda is going on in kindergartens and schools, it is unacceptable! Also, this campaign, run by "McDonald's" which said that it was part of a global campaign, was immoral. Why does it matter? I don't understand. In our country, this should be a taboo topic, and a debate can be opened about it in the Parliament, among other things, the mentioned issue can also be regulated at the legislative level, but this, of course, requires opening the debate and obtaining a general consensus. These issues need to be regulated and arranged, since these issues have already been raised openly, so we, the government, will have to make decisions on these issues in accordance with our traditions. 90% of our population supports family values in our country, Christian values, traditions, so you cannot touch these topics, even if Tamar Kordzaia or 100 Tamar Kordzaias are in the Parliament, and thank God, there will won't be, because our people will not elect such persons. Khatia Dekanoidze is probably there too," Gharibashvili said.

Gharibashvili believes that there is no need to abolish the anti-discrimination law, and the Ministry of Education should protect kindergartens and schools from "harmful propaganda".
